Fellow Council Members,
Since 2021, there has been a change (2021) in how the FBI reports crime. Before 2021 FBI Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) was principally with the Summary Reporting System (SRS) the change was to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). "Group A Offenses" for this reporting are defined in the attached.
The data provided in the attachment graphic for Universal City (2020-2024) Group A offenses (reports included) was obtained from the Chief (provided July 2025). Updated information from January to November 2025 was available through searches of reporting sites, with comparisons made to surrounding communities.
