Attached is a comparison of Tax Rates for UC and the recently published (Northside Herald) proposed rates for our neighboring cities.

UC (0.514382), Live Oak (0.370824), Selma (0.1879), Converse (0.431400)

I ask for the Council's serious consideration and comment on the following:

1) I would like to acknowledge General Services for their contribution in reducing the FY 25 budget expenses.

2) Councilmembers, please review the current budget item for C-5/Alley and associated engineering cost (Total = $245K). Given the location of this project and its service for the commercial development of businesses in the Aviation District, should not Council seek reimbursement or at least cost sharing from the EDC as part of EDC function to support infrastructure for commercial development?

3) Given prior Council comments, there is a need to clarify why $80K per year in Billboard revenue in the Budget does not go to the General Fund to offset the property tax burden.

4) Reallocation of venue tax to the general fund: I asked for the support of all Councilmembers to place this on a future agenda for discussion and to allow ballot language to be adopted for the next election cycle. Should this have been done by prior Councils it would have offset property tax to <0.500 percent and funded all items on the current budget.
