Only Universal City Councilmembers are allowed to post on this message board. Councilmembers shall not vote or take any action that is required to be taken at a meeting by posting on this message board. In no event shall a communication or posting to this message board be construed as an action of the City Council of Universal City.
I would agree with much of what you said, Mayor, especially the part about keeping our property taxes only to the level needed. Its important that we balance the needs of the City to provide services and the needs of our residents and businesses to keep their hard earned money.
So, the...
Like I said. I am fine moving it to general if we can find another way to offset the lost revenue in golf. We have other ways of balancing the general fund to avoid a tax increase and the easiest way to do that is to allocate more venue tax to the park budget. There is plenty of qualifying...
I think the RFP should be broad with a menu based approach. We want a wide net with lots of options. Pricing could be for once vs twice, different container sizes, and reconsider exclusivity for roll off dumpsters.
Alley service would be nice for those that would benefit. However, our alleys...
We can have legal look at it, but what would you like to happen? If we move it to general, how do you propose adjusting the golf course budget? I fear it will only require more venue tax which I am not in favor of.
Get excited! It's my annual reminder on our property tax rates! We have made a lot of progress the last few years to reduce the rate and get more competitive with the cities around us. However, we continue to be the 6th highest rate in Bexar/Guadalupe County. The proposed budget is asking us...
According to the budget, numbered page 2, there will be about $362,000 left in the hotel/motel tax fund at the end of 25-26. That is money we could put to use now if we can find a good use for it. Perhaps we could budget $100,000 in hotel/motel expenditures in this budget and direct staff to...
Things I like about this budget:
1. More venue tax is dedicated to the general fund for parks (increase from $650,000 to $1,000,000). This helps supplement our general fund and frees up other revenues to cover traditional fund costs.
2. General fund operating costs are increasing 4% overall...
Yes, this is on my list of suggested updates as well. The complaint should be sworn to and the person making the complaint should understand the steps that are going to be taken. This process should start with a random email complaint.
I would also like some clarity on when an inquiry is...
I am fine moving that to the general fund. But, if we are faced with a choice of leaving that in golf and repurposing the venue tax, I would rather repurpose the venue tax.
Thanks for sharing the TML link. I had not seen that before.
The local government code gives us the ability to discuss things in the open on this board without qualification about whether it is on an upcoming agenda.
With anything new, there is some fear of the open meetings act. Of course...
Marketing materials at the hotel is not a bad idea. I think we could do the same at the golf course. Something that encourages them to go down pat booker. Maybe some businesses would like to offer coupons to be left at the pro shop or on the back of scorecards. Would also give us some feedback...
We implemented this message board a year ago with a commitment to trying it out for a year. Now we are faced with the decision to extend that contract.
The City has provided statistics of who posts on the board and how many views it gets. One may be tempted to say that it doesn't get as much...
